Nel mese di giugno 2020, secondo quanto rilevato da Terna, la società che gestisce la rete elettrica nazionale, la domanda di elettricità in Italia è stata di 24 miliardi di kWh, in diminuzione del 13,4% rispetto allo stesso mese del 2019.
Questo valore è stato ottenuto con un giorno lavorativo in più (21 vs 20) e una temperatura media mensile inferiore di 2,6°C rispetto a giugno dello scorso anno.
A giugno la riduzione dei consumi ha risentito in maniera minore rispetto ai mesi precedenti dell’impatto delle misure introdotte per far fronte all’emergenza sanitaria da Covid-19, mostrando graduali segnali di ripresa.
Il dato destagionalizzato e corretto dagli effetti di calendario e temperatura porta la variazione a -10,4 per cento.
La domanda del primo semestre del 2020 risulta in flessione dell’8,9% rispetto al corrispondente periodo del 2019. In termini rettificati la variazione resta sostanzialmente invariata (-9%).
Nei primi sei mesi dell’anno le fonti rinnovabili hanno coperto complessivamente il 40,5% della domanda elettrica, rispetto al 35,5% del corrispondente periodo del 2019.
A livello territoriale la variazione tendenziale di giugno 2020 è risultata ovunque negativa: -14,3% al Nord, -12,7% al Centro e -11,6% al Sud.
In termini congiunturali, il valore destagionalizzato e corretto dagli effetti di calendario e temperatura dell’energia elettrica richiesta a giugno 2020 ha fatto registrare una variazione positiva (+1%) rispetto al mese precedente (maggio 2020).
In giugno la domanda di energia elettrica è stata soddisfatta per il 97,8% con produzione nazionale e per la quota restante (2,2%) dal saldo dell’energia scambiata con l’estero.
La produzione da fonti rinnovabili ha coperto il 48,9% della domanda, in aumento rispetto allo stesso periodo del 2019 (41,9%). In dettaglio, la produzione nazionale netta (23,6 miliardi di kWh) è risultata in flessione (-3,9%) rispetto a giugno 2019. In crescita la fonte di produzione eolica (+58,9%), in calo tutte le altre (idroelettrica -8%; termica -7,2%; geotermica -5,6%; fotovoltaica -0,9%).

Rome, July, 15 2020 – In June 2020, according to data collected by Terna, the company that manages the national electricity grid, electricity demand in Italy stood at 24 billion kWh, a 13.4% decrease compared to the same month in 2019.
This was achieved with one more working day (21 vs 20), and with an average monthly temperature approximately 2.6°C lower than the year before.
In June, compared to the previous months, the decrease in consumption was less effected by the impact of the measures introduced to face the Covid-19 health emergency, showing signs of a gradual recovery. When adjusted for seasonal, temperature and calendar effects, the figure represents a -10.4% variation.
Demand in the first half of 2020 decreased by 8.9% compared to the same period in 2019. In adjusted terms, it remains essentially unchanged (-9%). In the first six months of 2020, renewable sources covered a total of 40.5% of electricity demand, compared to 35.5% in the corresponding period of 2019.
On a regional level, the June 2020 trend was negative across the country: -14.3% in the North, -12.7% in Central Italy and -11.6% in the South.
The data for June 2020, adjusted for calendar and temperature effects, recorded an increase in electricity demand (+1%) compared to the previous month (May 2020).
In June 2020, 97.8% of the electricity demand was met with domestic production, and the remaining 2.2% was met with the balance of electricity exchanged with foreign countries.
Production from renewable sources covered 48.9% of the demand, up compared to the same period in 2019 (41.9%). More specifically, net domestic production (23.6 billion kWh) decreased (-3.9%) compared to June 2019. Wind production grew (+58.9%), whilst all other sources fell (hydroelectric -8%; thermal -7.2%; geothermal -5.6%; photovoltaic -0.9%).
