Nella galleria in via del Corso 528 gli interessanti stimoli visivi, tattili, poetici e musicali. «In questo luogo così evocativo della Città Eterna, ci tenevo che l’arte si potesse guardare, ascoltare e toccare – afferma l’artista -, l’interattività di Manhattan Transfer è tutto questo e non solo: crocevia immaginario di diversi popoli, culture, generazioni, ere, matrici, pensieri ed espressioni. In altre parole una sorta di scambio ferroviario, che sia di New York o di Roma è solo un dettaglio; luogo fisico o figurato capace di far incontrare flussi e persone provenienti da luoghi diversi e diretti verso altrettanti diversi lidi».
IN ONORE DI VESPIGNANI
E proprio grazie alla dimensione multimediale e ludica del progetto, il visitatore potrà indagare la sfera delle proprie emozioni recondite che l’essere umano prova fin dalla tenera età. Russo analizza i lavori dei grandi maestri attraverso il caleidoscopio della commedia dell’arte (Rugantino, Meo Patacca, Pulcinella, Arlecchino, Pantalone) e delle maschere da tutto il mondo (i supereroi, le maschere asiatiche e quelle africane). Il titolo del progetto è un omaggio a Renzo Vespignani e alla mostra di dipinti e disegni che egli realizzò dal 1988 al 1992 durante un suo soggiorno a New York, traendo spunto, appunto, da Manhattan Transfer, romanzo di John Dos Passos (1925), preceduto dai musicisti The Manhattan Transfer, gruppo vocale jazz statunitense fondato nel 1969.
UN INNOVATIVO PROGETTO
L’innovativo progetto è stato patrocinato dal Consiglio regionale del Lazio, dal municipio di Roma I Centro, dai Cento pittori di Via Margutta, dalla Banca di Credito Popolare, dallo studio associato Napoletano e dalla Onlus Paolo Salvati, ospitati da Padre Ercole Ceriani Rettore del Santuario. Manhattan Transfer ha raccolto le energie di numerosi partner da tutto il mondo, capaci di condividerne l’emozione e lo spirito benefico a favore di Mente e Coscienza (ODV-ETS, associazione di volontariato per le disabilità).
Nel 2018 il celebre Ennio Calabria si dichiarò «impressionato dalla forte capacità di concentrazione di Cristoforo, ma di una concentrazione che sa dissolversi nell’immaginazione dell’indicibilità».
PROGRAMMA
Dal 3 al 11 maggio tutti i giorni dalle ore 10:00 alle ore 20:00. Giovedì 5 ore 17.00 anteprima per la stampa, presentazione ufficiale della pubblicazione “Manhattan Transfer”, interviste libere e, a seguire, alle ore 18:00 “Del lazzo e della burla”, spettacolo di musiche e lettura tratto dall’opuscolo “Burlesque” di Andrea Borgia con la voce di Enio Drovandi e la chitarra e basso di Luca Sorrentino.
Sabato 7 maggio alle ore 17:00 interverreanno il professor universitario Rosario Pinto, le poesie di Ciro Califano, le opere ottico-tattili di Nicola Toscano (in sistema Braille).
Domenica 8, eccezionalmente per la festa della mamma, laboratori per grandi e bambini a partire dal mattino. Alle ore 16:00 concerto dal vivo del tenore Stefano Gagliardi accompagnato dalla musicista Miss Clod e la regia di Francesco Sardella.
Martedì 10 ore 17:00 Ut pictura poesis, tra pittura e sentimento, dibattito sulla funzione dell’arte come rappresentazione della realtà e come espressione dell’individuo, con la Onlus Paolo Salvati.

Manhattan Transfer: the painting of Cristoforo Russo in Rome.Behind the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dei Miracoli in Piazza del Popolo, 32 works by the painter Cristoforo Russo will be visible free of charge for the first time from 3 to 11 May. Visitors will be hosted by the Gallery of Miracles of the same name (via del Corso 528), with various visual, tactile, poetic and musical stimuli. “In this evocative place of the Eternal city, I wanted art to be seen, heard and touched – confesses Cristoforo Russo-. The interactivity of Manhattan Transfer is all this and more: an imaginary crossroads of different peoples, cultures, generations, eras, civilizations, thoughts, expressions. In other words, a railway exchange whether in New York or Rome, a physical or figurative place capable of bringing together flows and people who come from different places and then continue for as many different shores “”. Thanks to the apparently playful dimension of the project, the visitor will be able to investigate the sphere of their emotions that we all feel from an early age. For the occasion, in the paintings on display, the author analyzes the works of the great Masters, through the kaleidoscope of masks from the Italian “commedia dell’arte” (Rugantino, MeoPatacca, Pulcinella, Arlecchino, Pantalone) and masks from all over the world (the Superheroes , Asian and African masks). The name of the project is in homage to the Roman master Renzo Vespignani and the homonymous exhibition of paintings and drawings executed from 1988 to 1992, during his stay in New York.
