Questa mattina (domenica 24 gennaio) alle ore 11:00 “Un caffè con…” ospiterà tutto il direttivo dell’UNITA (Unione Nazionale Interpreti Teatro e Audiovisivo), vertice organizzativo di categoria formato da importanti personaggi dello spettacolo italiano, quali Vittoria Puccini, Fabrizia Sacchi, Giorgia Cardaci, Cristiana Capotondi, Marco Bonini, Fabrizio Gifuni, Stefano Scherini, Francesco Bolo Rossini, Maria Pia Calzone, Paolo Calabresi e Massimiliano Gallo.
La ragione di questa partecipazione si rinviene nel prestigioso premio che verrà a esso conferito nel corso dell’evento cinematografico che ha luogo nella città giuliana, il Cinema Warrior Award del TSFF32, istituito allo scopo di premiare l’ostinazione, il sacrificio e la follia di chi «combatte» per il cinema, per il suo impegno nella promozione del mestiere dell’attore nel panorama artistico, culturale e sociale italiano, con particolare attenzione alle questioni di genere e con un codice etico che ne garantisce serietà, professionalità e una centralità di temi quali l’etica del lavoro, la sostenibilità, l’accoglienza e l’inclusività.
Con tutti loro verrà affrontato il delicato tema relativo all’attuale situazione in Italia del settore dello spettacolo.
Alle 14:00 il concorso documentari presenta in anteprima italiana TATĂL NOSTRU (Padre nostro) di Andrei Dăscălescu, RO, 2020, col., 85’ v.o. rumena / sott. it. Il regista Andrei e la sua fidanzata Paula diventeranno genitori e mentre la futura mamma fatica a trovare un modello da seguire, il futuro papà vuole confrontarsi con la figura del padre diventato monaco sul Monte Athos.

LA TECNICA di Clemente De Muro, Davide Mardegan (CRIC), I, 2020, col., 10’ v.o. italiana / sott. ing. Girato in 16mm, La tecnica racconta la storia di Leonardo, un giovane ragazzino molto timido che sta per scoprire un mondo tutto nuovo.
LEIB (Corpo) di Marijana Verhoef, D, 2020, col., 18’ v.o. tedesca / sott. it. in anteprima italiana. Una misteriosa creatura, con il corpo di un contadino bruciato dal sole, si materializza nella vita di un’anziana vedova per aiutarla nella fattoria in cui vive.
ARKA di Natko Stipaničev, HR, 2020, col., 15’ senza dialoghi è un’animazione in 3D ed è il racconto di un viaggio epico e grandioso.
GOADS di Iris Baglanea, GR, 2020, col., 15’ v.o. greca – tedesca / sott. it. in anteprima italiana. Ira dovrà affrontare una delle esperienze più forti della sua infanzia durante una sessione di ‘allenamento’ con suo padre, un uomo che ha una visione molto particolare della vita.
AKTŪRIMAS (Pupazzo / Dummy) di Laurynas Bareiša, LT, 2020, col., 13’ v.o. lituana / sott. it. in anteprima italiana. Un’altra storia spiazzante dal lituano Bareiša, “habitué” del Trieste Film Festival: con l’aiuto di un pupazzo senza volto, un criminale ricostruisce un brutale delitto. Ma sorprendentemente non è lui a essere giudicato.
PRAZDNIK (Festa Nazionale / Celebration Day) di Natalija Končalovskaja, RUS, 2020, col., 10’ v.o. russa / sott. it. in anteprima italiana. Siamo a Mosca ed è il 9 maggio, ldata in cui la città festeggia la ricorrenza della fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Ma Saša non trova pace.
S DNËM ROŽDENIJA (Buon compleanno / Happy Birthday ) di Boris Dobrovol’skij, RUS, 2020, col., 7’ v.o. russa / sott. it. in anteprima italiana. Una signora invita alcuni amici alla sua festa di compleanno, ma nessuno si presenta… sette lunghi minuti di suspense!
ARMADILA di Gorana Jovanović, SRB, 2020, col., 11’ v.o. serba / sott. it. in anteprima italiana ha per protagonista una tosta tredicenne che fa fatica a tenere sotto controllo le proprie emozioni, che si tratti del suo cane scomparso o del ragazzino che le piace.
VR “Meet the XR creative live
Alle 17:00 c’è l’appuntamento con la VR “MEET THE XR CREATIVE LIVE” che presenta l’esperienza neuroattiva “Mind The Brain”: l’integrazione con i sensori è una delle frontiere delle realtà immersive. Incontriamo i creativi che hanno ideato il lavoro vincitore del Lumière Award 2020. Con Kathrin Brunner e Oliver Czeslik. L’appuntamento è trasmesso in diretta sulle pagine Facebook & Youtube del Trieste Film Festival.
Alle 18:15 il Concorso Lunghi presenta in anteprima italiana PARI di Siamak Etemadi, GR – F – NL – BG, 2020, col., 101’ v.o. farsi – inglese – greca / sott. it. Babak è uno studente iraniano in Grecia che non si presenta in aeroporto per accogliere i genitori in visita ad Atene. Pari e l’anziano marito, entrambi devoti musulmani, all’estero per la prima volta, sono poco preparati a cercare il figlio in un ambiente estraneo e ostile. Opera prima ambientata in una Atene trasfigurata dagli occhi di un regista iraniano.
Alle 20:00 continua il concorso lunghi con Sutemose (Al crepuscolo)
Šarūnas Bartas, LT – F – CZ – SRB – P – LV, 2020, col., 128’ v.o. lituana / sott. it. film in anteprima italiana. Ci caliamo nella Lituania del 1948 e il diciannovenne Untė fa parte del movimento partigiano che resiste all’occupazione sovietica. Nell’età in cui si scopre la vita, Untė conoscerà la violenza e il tradimento. Un grande cineasta come Bartas si confronta con il periodo più controverso e drammatico della storia del suo Paese.
Chiude la quarta giornata il Concorso Documentari alle 22:15 con O JEDNOJ MLADOSTI (C’era una volta un giovane ) di Ivan Ramljak, HR, 2020, col. & b-n / 78’ v.o. croata / sott. it. in anteprima italiana. 13 anni dopo la morte improvvisa del suo migliore amico, Ivan Ramljak cerca di ricostruirne la vita e il rapporto di amicizia che li legava. Un film sulla perduta generazione croata della fine degli anni Novanta, in cerca di identità dopo la devastazione della guerra.

SUNDAY THE 24TH OF JANUARY, A COFFEE WITH… MEETS UNITA, THE SHORT, FEATURE AND DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION; MEET THE XR CREATIVE LIVE
The Sunday of the Festival begins in high spirits. “A coffee with…” on Sunday 24th January will be especially packed: meeting the entire board of U.N.I.T.A – National Union of Theatre and Audiovisual Performers with some very well-known names on the national scene. U.N.I.T.A receives the Cinema Warrior Award, created to reward the tenacity, sacrifice and insanity of those who fight for cinema, for their way of promoting the acting profession in Italy’s artistic, cultural and social landscape; in particular for their commitment to improving gender equality, and maintaining high standards of professionalism, sustainability, openness and inclusivity in the industry. With them we will be discussing the current situation of the entertainment industry in Italy.
At 14:00 the documentary competition presents the Italian premiere of TATĂL NOSTRU (Holy Father) by Andrei Dăscălescu, RO, 2020, 85’, Romanina o.v. eng. subt. Film director, Andrei and his girlfriend, Paula, face the news of becoming parents. While the future mother is struggling with no worthy role models, the soon-to-be father must reconcile with the figure of his own father, now a monk on Mount Athos.

At 17:00 MEET THE XR CREATIVE LIVE presents the neuroactive experience Mind The Brain: integration with sensors is at the frontier with immersive realities. We meet the creatives who conceived the work that won the Lumière Award in 2020. With Karin Brunner and Oliver Czeslik, the event is broadcasted live on the Trieste Film Festival Facebook and YouTube pages.
At 18:15 the Feature Film Competition presents the Italian premiere PARI by Siamak Etemadi, GR – F – NL – BG, 2020, col., 101’ Farsi – English – Greek o.v. eng. subt. Babak, an Iranian student in Greece, doesn’t show up to welcome his visiting parents at Athens airport. Pari and her older husband, both devout Muslims abroad for the first time, are ill-prepared to search for their son in a hostile and foreign environment.
Debut film set in modern Athens transformed through the eyes of the Iranian director.
The Feature Film Competition continues at 20:00 with SUTEMOSE (In the Dusk) by
Šarūnas Bartas, LT – F – CZ – SRB – P – LV, 2020, col., 128’ Lithuanian o.v. eng. subt. Italian premiere. Lithuania, 1948. 19-year-old Untė is a member of the Partisan movement resisting Soviet occupation. During his formative years, Untė discovers violence and treachery.
A great filmmaker, Bartas confronts the most controversial and dramatic period in the history of his country.
The fourth day closes with the Documentary Competition at 22:15 with O JEDNOJ MLADOSTI
(Once Upon a Youth) by Ivan Ramljak, HR, 2020, col. & b-w, 78’ Croatian o.v. eng. subt. Italian premiere. 13 years after the unexpected death of his once best friend, Ivan Ramljak tries to reconstruct his life and their relationship. A film about the lost generation of Croatian youth at the end of the 90s, who are trying to find their identity in the aftermath of a devastating war.
