Nel mese di agosto 2020 secondo quanto rilevato da Terna, la società che gestisce la rete elettrica nazionale, la domanda di elettricità in Italia è stata di 26,1 miliardi di kWh, in calo dell’1,4% rispetto allo stesso mese del 2019. Questo valore è stato ottenuto con lo stesso numero di giorni lavorativi (21) e una temperatura media sostanzialmente in linea con quella di agosto dello scorso anno. Il dato destagionalizzato e corretto dagli effetti di calendario e temperatura porta a un decremento dell’1,2 per cento.
La domanda dei primi otto mesi del 2020 è in flessione del 7,7% rispetto al corrispondente periodo del 2019. In termini rettificati il dato resta sostanzialmente invariato (-7,5%). Da gennaio ad agosto le fonti rinnovabili hanno coperto complessivamente il 40% della domanda elettrica, rispetto al 36% del corrispondente periodo del 2019.
In termini congiunturali, il valore destagionalizzato e corretto dagli effetti di calendario e temperatura dell’energia elettrica richiesta ad agosto 2020 ha fatto registrare una variazione positiva per il quarto mese consecutivo (+4%) rispetto al mese precedente (luglio 2020). Questo risultato cambia il profilo del trend che si porta su un andamento crescente.
Nel mese di agosto 2020 la domanda di energia elettrica è stata soddisfatta per il 94,1% con produzione nazionale e per la quota restante (5,9%) dal saldo dell’energia scambiata con l’estero.
La produzione da fonti rinnovabili ha coperto il 40% della domanda, in aumento rispetto allo stesso periodo del 2019 (38%). In dettaglio, la produzione nazionale netta (24,7 miliardi di kWh) è risultata in aumento (+1,4%) rispetto ad agosto 2019. In crescita le fonti di produzione eolica (+66%) e fotovoltaica (+2,2%); in calo le fonti geotermica (-2,9%) e idroelettrica (-3,9); stazionaria quella termoelettrica.

TERNA In Italy, electrical energy consumption down 1,4% in August. Renewable sources covered 40% of monthly demand and of demand for the first eight months of 2020. Demand up 4% compared to July: general trend is now upward, increase in wind (+66%) and photovoltaic production (+2.2%) – Rome, 17 September 2020. In August 2020, according to data collected by Terna, the company that manages the national electricity grid, electricity demand in Italy stood at 26.1 billion kWh, a 1.4% decrease compared to the same month in 2019.
This was achieved with the same number of working days (21) and with an average monthly temperature substantially in line with that registered in August last year. When the data is adjusted for seasonal, temperature and calendar effects, it leads to decrease of 1.2%.
Demand in the first eight months of 2020 decreased by 7.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2019. In adjusted terms, it remains essentially unchanged (-7.5%). In the first eight months of the year, renewable sources covered a total of 40% of electricity demand, compared to 36% in the corresponding period of 2019.
The August 2020 data, adjusted for seasonal, calendar and temperature effects, showed for the forth month in a row a positive variation (+4%) in electricity demand compared to the previous month (July 2020). Considering this result the general trend is now upward.
In August 2020, 94.1% of the electricity demand was met with domestic production and the remaining 5.9% was met with the balance of electricity exchanged with foreign countries.
Production from renewable sources covered 40% of the demand, up compared to the same period in 2019 (38%). More in detail, net national production (24.7 billion kWh) grew (+1.4%) compared to August 2019. Wind and photovoltaic production rose (+66% and +2.2% respectively), whilst there was a decrease in geothermal (-2.9%) and hydroelectric production (-3.9%), with thermoelectric production remaining flat.
